Place-Based AR Lab

Created for Nicolle Lee’s Pedagogy class — NSCAD University, Fall 2025

A course designed around Augmented Reality as a medium for place-responsive worldbuilding. Participants co-create digital artworks responding to specific places — understanding AR not as spectacle but as a way to make visible what a place holds: history, grief, care, land.

The course is structured around three projects, each working with a different AR modality. Research approaches include academic, embodied, and magical practices. Technological interventions consider obscured aspects of digital technology: the spiritual, environmental, bodily.

“We use technological interventions to consider obscured aspects of digital technology: the spiritual, environmental, bodily.”
